The most likely (and common) explanation I can think of for this is a
buggy extension. Please open the 'Extensions' app (gnome-shell-
extension-prefs) and ensure you don't have any extensions other than the
three Ubuntu ones installed.
Please also run:
cd ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/
rm -rf
