My computer is a Fujitsu Lifebook A6230, with an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 graphics card. Basically, when I resume from a suspend or hibernate, all of my window borders are nothing but static. Most windows will go back to the normal emerald theme I have set when they lose or gain focus, but non- application windows (I'm not sure of the correct term; windows like the right click menu, the compiz viewport switcher, and tooltips) remain with the static. I can fix all of it by running "compiz --replace" in a terminal, but about one out of ten times this completely locks up my computer and I have to force a reboot. Attached is a screenshot showing the problem on an Amarok window. The static on the left is from a window on the right side of the screen, one viewport to the left of the current one. http://i42.tinypic.com/1054jkh.png shows how tooltips still have the static, even after the other windows have been fixed. I think it may have something to do with the shadows (if that helps), because I have them disabled on the Gnome menu bars and the static never happens with them. Also, it may help to add that the reason I use Hardy Heron is that in any newer release of Ubuntu, after I install the ATI drivers (fglrx), the entire screen becomes static halfway through the boot process and the computer becomes unresponsive.
