Title:
gtkfilechooser should support wildcard filtering in location field

Status in GTK+ GUI Toolkit:
  Won't Fix
Status in One Hundred Paper Cuts:
  Invalid
Status in “gtk+2.0” package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
When opening a file using the File Open Dialog, there may be
potentially hundreds of files of the same type to choose from (e.g.
open office documents). The current File Open Dialog provides no quick
mechanism to filter out the files that you're looking for.

Say you know that the file begins with "christmas". You should be able
to enter the wildcard "christmas*" in the location field and the file
list should only shows those files that begin with christmas. This
would help users find files quickly without having to step through
  hundreds of files.

In short, the location field of the File Open Dialog should support
the entry of wildcards such that it filter out the files that match
  the wildcard.
