After installing the NVIDIA drivers from the hardware manager dialogue and rebooting i have no permissions to view and use sound, shutdown or reboot (just logs out to gdm and refuses to shutdown from there too), cannot mount any drives, or any system utilities requiring su permissions. If un installation of the NVIDIA drivers is performed and rebooted the problem disappears. This is repeatable on another system using SSD drives and raid 0 vis software raid (mdadm). When not using software raid and no SSD drives the problem doesnt exist. The problem can intermittently exist when using either software raid 0 with ordinary drives, or when using SSD drives and no raid.
