the same issue that John Dryer has described in #8. I've applied the
change to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf, and there is still no sound
through the speakers upon reboot.

I also have an mba1,1. I have applied the fix /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-
base.conf options snd-hda-intel model=mbp3 fix, and it doesn't seem to
help. There is sound on the computer, but it's only in the headphone
port. Sound doesn't come out of the speakers. I have rebooted, and
tried using mba as

Marking Fix Released as multiple MacBook Air 1,1 users have noted they
have sound in Ubuntu 12.04/Precise LTS. Thank you for reporting the bug
(and testing the workaround).
