I did not change the firmware of my Modem for a long time.

network manager? What happens when you uninstall it?
Also, are you sure you are using the latest firmware for the device?

Title:
NM does not connect mobile broadband;
After installation of Ubuntu 12.04 (from scratch; no upgrade) I
configured Mobile Broadband.
Result:
Wired and Wireless networks are listed, but no Mobile Broadband.
sakis3g works without problems.
I have repeated some of my previous steps to investigate this problem.
It seems somthing recon
