The right way to fix this bug is to use several glyphs to draw the brace e.g. one glyph for the top, one for the middle and one for the bottom. The rest of the brace are two vertical lines that can easily be extended to arbitrary size (e.g. by repeating a glyph for vertical bar or drawing a line).
