Public bug reported: The system is an Averatec 3280 system with Xubuntu beta-1 installed, updated through 21 sept 2011. Today networking stopped working, but I was able to get eth0 working by editing /etc/network/interfaces to provide a fixed address. Then I noticed that the network manager icon had disappeared from the top panel. After an update and reboot, the icon reappeared. However I was unable to get wifi working (I do have Enable Wireless checked, and I do have the wifi button status set - LED lights up).
