comment #4 seems to be a completely different issue. As for the original point, I've confirmed this in Bodhi Linux using LO 3.5.3.2. Escape will exit the find dialog but cntrl + f will not, leaving the user to either stretch their fingers to escape or use their mouse as the user as pointed out.

The issue with close find function to add key binding is that you wouldn't be able to assign Cntrl + f because it's already assigned. I think it's much more functional to just have it as the same key binding and throw in a simple check to see if the dialog is already open, if it is, close it if

I seemed to get it back just now. I realized that the Find toolbar was attached vertically, with no text field. When I detached it from there, and attached it horizontally or freed it, the text field showed up. I'll keep an eye on this to determine if it's the same problem or not. -- You

Oh I see, yes there is a tiny Find Text box that appears in the upper- right edge of one of my toolbars, but even when I click on the arrow button to expand it, some extra functions are available but still no text box to see what I'm searching for. So this bug seems to go back to a design flaw.
