OK, the next time it crashed it did ask me to report the crash, and it has
generated a crash report, see bug #903845

There is no crash report being generated and when the crash occurs I do
not get the popup asking me if I want to report a problem. All that
happens is that the nautilus icon in the launcher pulsates for a few
seconds as normal then it stops, and in syslog I see the segfault
message. I cannot see
