I can't find any indication to show that this has changed in the last
few releases; default is 1500 everywhere, and the code that uses this
and reads the value doesn't appear to have changed recently.
Closing as Invalid for now, let's reopen the bug and set it to New if it
can be reproduced.

After setting /apps/evolution/mail/display/mark_seen_timeout to 1500,
the behavior is very much improved; so much so that I believe it is the
same behavior as I remember it. Granted, I've been living with this for
4 months so it is possible I am not remembering it correctly, but things
are working
/apps/evolution/mail/display/mark_seen_timeout was set to '0' here. I
wonder if that got reset or something on upgrade

Title:
As a workaround, you can change the value for the following key in
gconf-editor:
/apps/evolution/mail/display/mark_seen_timeout
to 15000 for 15 seconds; which allows more time to move the messages to
a different folder. I'll try to figure out if that timeout has changed
recently or why this is no
Confirming; this seems to be mostly a matter of how fast you move the
message, because I was able to quickly do the process and successfully
move a "Marked as unread" message to another folder; however it only
takes one or two seconds before a message you click on to drag is marked
as read again --

Yes, this has been driving me crazy. Another side effect is if I select
several messages and try to move them. If the last message I click is
not already marked as read, then when I go to drag them they all get
deselected because the UI instead decides that my drag is a click on the
unread one.
