I can't test the reboot hypothesis at the moment since I'm traveling and don't have access to a second monitor. I experienced exactly the same problem on Ubuntu 11.10 (see below for details) and was very frustated. However, after a shutdown and restart, it worked fine. So probably easy workaround should be to add the "reboot needed" flag to the libreoffice-presenter-console package. $ dpkg --get-selections
