I can reproduce this issue here if I install ttf-mscorefonts-installer and then

I had this same thing occur on my main desktop computer as well. Knowing
that the xorg.conf file got trounced on my main notebook, I made sure I
had a good backup of my xorg.conf file before beginning the LTS upgrade.
At the conclusion of the upgrade, the xorg.conf file was still in the
directory.

The phased-updates implementation is currently only available in update-
manager. Back when it was discussed the rational was that users of
advanced tools like apt/aptdcon would still get their normal upgrades.
So in order to fix this it needs to get ported to aptdaemon - what

After upgrading to 14.04 I see very high CPU load with unity on my thinkpad
x201.
"top" shows me values of ~ 50-200%, never below 50% and the fan is constantly
going.

This crash occurs as soon as I login to the Unity desktop.
I am running trusty under VMware Workstation 10.0.1 on a Windows 8.1
64-bit host. I have VMware Workstation's "Printer" feaure "connected",
so VMware is sharing my host OS's printers with the trusty VM.

I forgot to mention that I did install VMware Tools from this version of
VMware Workstation. I can try uninstalling them.
Also, "hpfax" crashes during each login too. Launchpad suggested I mark
it as a duplicate of bug 1007226, and I did. However, it may not be a
duplicate after all because 100722

So I gathered from an IRC conversation that the goal here is just to
have unity8 proxy that setting to powerd to avoid regressions. And not
worry about the multiple-unity8-process problem until a later merge that
moves that logic into USC.
Is that right?
