I just discussed with Tim Ward how we would like to move Aries JPA forward.
Tim plans to push for Aries JPA being the new reference impl for the OSGi jpa spec 1.1.0.

We need to switch the trunk to the snapshot of the OSGi jpa 1.1.0 spec. This means we can not easily create releases from this branch until the spec is final.
So the plan is to have a 1.6.x branch based on 1.6.1 if we need any fixes.

Tim expects the OSGi jpa spec to go final in about three months. I think this is an acceptable time frame for the 2.7 release.

I would like to move Aries JPA to a separate git repo like aries-rsa is already. This should make it easier to work on branches. The Aries JPA subproject is already prepared for releases by subproject so the move should be quite simple.

If the PMC agrees we will proceed with this.
