Xander Johnson created ARROW-3828:
-------------------------------------

             Summary: [Python] client.list() produces segfault
                 Key: ARROW-3828
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ARROW-3828
             Project: Apache Arrow
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: Python
         Environment: macOS 10.12.6
pyarrow 0.11.1

            Reporter: Xander Johnson

Issue: running some of the examples
[https://github.com/apache/arrow/blob/master/python/doc/source/plasma.rst] here
cause a segfault, when they call client.list():

In one process:
{code:java}
plasma_store -m 1000000000 -s /tmp/plasma          {code}
in another, this will fail on the call to {{list}}:
{code:java}
import pyarrow.plasma as plasma
client = plasma.connect("/tmp/plasma", "", 0)
foo = client.put(1)
client.list(){code}
e.g.
{code:java}
Python 3.6.7 (default, Nov 15 2018, 16:25:31)
[GCC 4.2.1 Compatible Apple LLVM 9.0.0 (clang-900.0.39.2)] on darwin
Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information.
>>> import pyarrow.plasma as plasma
>>> client = plasma.connect("/tmp/plasma", "", 0)
>>> foo = client.put(1)
>>> client.list()
zsh: segmentation fault  python3
{code}
I installed pyarrow via pip - version 0.11.1

Out of curiosity, I tried it also in a fresh virtualenv with python2.7, to the
same effect.
