The fact that a chat channel is limited to those with an @apache.org account
and requires knowing who to ask for invitation runs counter the Apache Way.
Chat channels should be open and discoverable by all.
I am with Nux, -1 for anything like Hipchat, Slack, etc. If some folks prefer

Putting on my project manager’s hat, design documents express the intentions of
a feature or enhancement before implementation begins. Typically, design
documents are out of sync with the initial implementation, and they are
certainly out of sync with those changes as the system

number of developers have been experimenting with Slack which would naturally
