Tags should never be recreated. It would be better to create an RC(n) tag for the VOTE; if the vote fails, delete the tag, fix the files and create a new RC(n+1) tag. Once the vote passes, the RC tag can be copied to the final release tag. That makes it much easier to keep track of the tags. S.
