I have no idea why that isn't working. Ctakes-examples should have everything
in its classpath.

Update to the latest version of trunk.
On the left or right you may see a "maven projects" tab. If you don’t you can
activate it using the menubar: View > Tool

cTAKES+4.0+Developer+Install+Guide.
Then I have followed the steps you have given for running the piper file
using IDE
