+1. Some quotes from my email to the PPMC on this topic: The project has successfully made two [I stand corrected, three] Apache releases and added new committers. The community seems to be good at welcoming new contributors, based on the interactions on the mailing lists. The core team mem

+1 to not holding the release on this. Since the release is only the source*, if we later decide that CDH specific packages are ok we can add them in with no extra votes, etc. Alan. *Apache releases only source code. This is so that users, distributers, etc. can verify the integrity etc.

Let me begin by noting that I obviously have a conflict of interest since my company is a direct competitor to Cloudera. But as a mentor and Apache member I believe I need to bring this up. What is the Apache policy towards having a vendor specific package on a download site? It is strange t

I've used the Confluence wiki that Apache provides for Hive and Pig. It works fine. I can't compare it to the github one as I haven't used that one. Whichever you guys prefer we can file a ticket with infra and get one created. Alan. Stephan Ewen June 27, 2014 at

Did you mean "commits" rather than "comments"? I believe the Apache best practice is to send commits to the dev list because we want committers to keep an eye on what's getting committed. We don't want to put those notices on a heavy traffic, low readership list where people won't tend to see
