Problems with UnsetEnv

Hi,
Although this is in CHANGES of 1.3.21:
  *) UnsetEnv from main body of httpd.conf file didn't work; backport
     of bugfix from 2.0 codebase. [Gary Benson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>] PR#8254

I'm still not able to unset vars; I tried with PATH and SERVER_SOFTWARE both in 
httpd.conf and .htaccess, but it didnt work with Linux, NetWare, Win32 platforms...
tested with 1.3.23-dev

What I'm doing wrong?
