The Italian community has a dedicated mailing list to collect and
discuss localization-related issues, so we receive feedback through it.
The volunteers there are quite active; many suggestions from users were
recently implemented in the official Italian version.
This terminology overhaul was made easier by the handover of the Italian
translation management from Sun to the community and the switch to
Pootle for storing the translated strings.

Almost all Italian users are indeed using the Italian version, which has
full localization support (interface, online help, spell checker,
thesaurus); only a few prefer to use the software in English.
