There's a ticket, CONNECTORS-552 I believe, and a branch where the Solr connector was modified to do this. That branch is only applicable, however, to ManifoldCF 1.0.1, and it is also not the right way to do it in my opinion. I think we want this to be a general feature, not connector-specific.
