Just happened to run across this article today: http://news.com.com/Microsoft+OpenDocument+is+too+slow/2100-1013_3-6076916.html?tag=newsmap There are a couple references to OOo, including one indicating OOo was not initially optimized for ODF. On an unrelated note, I've been using Novell's OOo
