Over the last year or so I've tried to get rid of as many alpha and beta
plugins as possible. We are now down to only
+1
alpha and beta tags are better handled as 0.x.y version numbers in any
case. once you hit 1.0.0 there should be no need for an alpha or beta tag
unless you have the commitment to run the real release within a month or two
