The thing is I downloaded the last nightly build and I don't get that
error anymore, although the code for the _SerializableDataModel hasn't
been altered...

You can't change the standard JSF api.
You'll need to create a tomahawk HtmlSelectManyCheckbox component instead
I recommend basing your patch on that.

FWIW this doesn't change my vote. There is a lot of effort put into
the TCK testing so I'd hate to retest for something this minor. Lets
