I tried out the scenario you described and it worked fine on my machine.
However I was using Sun's el-api and -impl.
After I changed to Apache's el-api and -impl I got the following error:

I'm wondering what our policy is about fixing JIRA issues on Trunk and
also on the trinidad-1.2.x branch. Is it a requirement that if it goes
in trunk, it needs to go in trinidad-1.2.x?
