Finally!
At last I was able to install from the edge channel and now I can confirm
it works for me too.
Thanks

Well beta2 is not on the edge yet, Apache has some infra issues, wit its
build nodes.
11.2-beta1 is there as 11.2.
Check the site: https://snapcraft.io/netbeans upper right corner there
is a dropdown with the available versions. You can get further
instructions there.

Hi, probably the easiest way I found is to patch the source in Jenkins,
adding the required line. Unfortunately that wont work on the dev
releases, but those builds are hardly used. The beta1 will be available
on the edge channel today. You are going to be able to test the fix there.

First off, I have had some problems building snaps in general so that part
is still on my todo list.
Bringing back the thread from the pr

I'd remove the version number from the end.

Also try to build and install the snap on your machine. Snap checks/filters
the desktop file.

If it’s a question of tweaking a line in a file on GitHub, then you can
simply do that tweak directly on GitHub itself and provide a PR from there.

I found that the pinned snap won't start from Latte Dock due to a missing
line in the desktop file.
StartupWMClass=Apache NetBeans 11.1
I would like to once and for all do my first contribution with this fix in
order to learn the process.
So, I'll
-post on the dev list (done)
