Got around this issue by using javacc-maven-plugin version 2.6 instead of 2.4,
and this seems to have resolved this error. Thanks.

2.3.1, not 2.3.2), so you'll need jdk 6.
FWIW I just tried mvn clean compile with Maven 3.0, Sun JDK 6 and it
completed with no errors.
