Dear OpenMeetings Developers Community,
This is just to reinforce about Kurento shared in user@OM, and also share a few technical perspectives to developers (dev@OM). + Kurento is modular, thereby enabling analytical, third-party algorithms and programs, besides media capabilities and group communications. It allows a Java program to make JSON-RPC calls to the kurento-jsonrpc-server. - It uses Kurento protocol, which is based on <http://doc-kurento.readthedocs.io/en/stable/glossary.html#term-websocket> WebSocket and uses <http://doc-kurento.readthedocs.io/en/stable/glossary.html#term-json-rpc> JSON-RPC V2.0 messages for making requests and sending responses. The downside is Kurento protocol is a new protocol that may have certain features closed as it develops...similar to Red5 WebRTC. Also, as it uses TURN/STUN servers to exchange media, it will require a number of UDP ports, besides the TCP port, open. Security issues have to be taken care of proxy servers. Thank you. Sincerely, Hemant K.
