Trying to learn why it's so hard to get a current hands-on copy of
Apache Open Office[4]. Am involved with a local historical society,
and the system I'm supposed to use is not simple enough for someone to
literally 'walk in from the street' and learn it fast. Am not overly
computer literate (obviously).
Am using various sources (old phone books, newspapers, old high school
annuals and word-of-mouth) to compile many years of business(es),
their locations, where they are now, etc.). Should be simple, but I
can't get my hands on a current 'manual' to read and absorb it so I
can do what needs to be done.
What I'm trying to do is enter years/name of business/location and
comments via a basic spreadsheet, using 3-4 bits of info. Much of the
material is redundant and am at the point where the info needs to be
entered now. Have no way to look at material and enter it at the same
time.
Would appreciate an assist to be able to have what I need in my hands
so I can absorb the material and do it on my own.
Thanks - s mailen
