Really? The level of detail one wants to see is independent of the
size of the area. If I want to print a 1:1 map all icons

I'm the one who sumbited the lates patch mapnik_svg.r1433.2.patch, but I
gave up. I never developed C++ nor du I have any experiences with Cairo.
So I'm unsure if one can call this "in progress"...
