Ok, but can't a lot of that complexity be pushed back on the
(power-)user just by letting them choose alternative (or additional)
map_features? Just like they can choose alternative stylesheets. One
particularly appealing thing about that is the other map_features
files could be stored outside the github (perhaps on the wiki), and
hence be much more readily accessible. There are pretty easy change
requests that have been sitting on the wiki for a year or more,
presumably because Git is too big a hurdle for casual (non-programmer)
contributors.

Is this more complicated than I'm thinking?
