Let me ask this another way around:
Do you mind if I start a Sling Channel on the ASF Slack Workspace and whoever
wants to join can do so.
I do not see the risk of fragmentation or information dilution.
I would love to use Slack to make it easier to ask questions, discuss new ideas

Same here, I don't think this community is large enough to have
multiple channels, I see a big risk of fragmentation.

IMHO, Slack is a very good option for quick communication.
Various Apache projects (approx. 130+) are efficiently using it in ASF
Slack space for quick communications.
As Andreas mentioned Slack is not the
+1 to what Radu said. I just see an opportunity to dilute information here.
The only value i could find in instant chat here is operational
discussions, and the only operational discussions we have are mostly beers
at adaptTo :-)
