Warren, I'm not sure. I tested with 3.1.0 and couldn't reproduce, hence I'm
assuming this is because 3.1.0 works around the bug in some way. ;)

This bug looks similar to Bug #4565 but it is a different domain. Looking in
the code for 3.1.0 I don't see anything that handles this domain. Justin?

I have extended the reporter's patch and tested it under PostgreSQL 7.4.8 (Red
Hat Enterprise Linux 4.1). Named parameters are not supported under PostgreSQL
