I've been looking at current activity on trunk, and reviewing the latest
changes in FSFS.
I think it's finally time to bite the bullet and create the 1.9 release
branch. AFAIR, there are two outstanding issues:
* Review and merge of the X509 branch.
* A resolution of the FSFSv7 conundrum.
