Thanks Jon. I'll create an issue to dig into it and fix it.

+1, with the note that we seem to have a number of bcprov jars included:
* bcprov-jdk15on-1.70.jar
* bcprov-jdk15to18-1.70.jar
* bcprov-jdk18on-1.71.jar
Not sure if that is intended, but maybe needs some cleanup for the next
release.

Thanks Jean-Louis for your answer,
So it looks like https://github.com/apache/tomcat-jakartaee-migration
is the recommended to migrate an EE 8 war archive into an Jakarta EE 8
equivalent.
Is that correct ?
if so then i'll try it to see if TomEE 9.0.0 works with our web apps

Hi Alexandre,
After some experiments, this tool is so limited that we decided to neither
advise nor support it. It's then not embedded in TomEE.
I wrote some notes here https://tomee.apache.org/javax-to-jakarta.html
Hope it helps

Hi there,
And happy new year to TomEE contributors!
I wish I could give this TomEE 9.0.0 release candidate a try, but all
my web apps currently still have EE dependencies on javax namespace.
Where is the tool which used to be mentioned to convert an existing
.war having EE dependencies into a

Hi all,
I'm very proud to call a vote for Apache TomEE 9.0.0 final. It's been
almost a year since we certified the server using a bytecode enhancement
approach. Even though it worked, it introduced a lot of restrictions
especially with tooling (IDE, Arquillian, Embedded container, etc).

Alex,
This is good feedback/discussion but can you please reply in the thread I
started on this topic so we can all exchange there without messing up with
the vote thread.
This is a full TomEE release including Arquillian, Maven, TomEE Embedded,
etc. The staging repository is in the vote email
The Maven Repo is here:
https://repository.apache.org/content/repositories/orgapachetomee-1208/
See vote mail :-)

Hello,
I don't see how we can hope people migrating from TomEE 8 to TomEE 9
unless there's a smooth way to handle transition.
Most large web apps have tons of dependencies, not all are Jakarta ready.
Seriously, if we don't want the transition to take 5+ years, a
converter EE->Jakarta is needed,
Yes it's not part of the distribution. It was a prototype on my side so we
could bring the discussion up to the community.
There is no outcome for the moment. There are too many edge cases and
restrictions. I don't know if it's a good idea and if it would work for
real enterprise cases.

Hello,
I'm confused, as I don't find the webapps-ee/ directory in extracted
TomEE+ 9 RC1.
Do I miss something ?
How to test automatic Java EE compatibility tricks proposed by Jean-Louis?
Thanks,

if i'am right, these were superseded by other updates:
- link:https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TOMEE-3980[TOMEE-3980] HSQLDB
2.7.0
- link:https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TOMEE-4019[TOMEE-4019] HSQLDB

+1 to ship but the release note has some entries that I believe should be
removed.
Hsqldb 2.7.0
Hsqldb workaround
I can send the exact list of non included changes tomorrow if you want to
remove them.

Hi all,
As discussed, here is the vote for Apache TomEE 9.0.0.RC1. This is a
release candidate implementing Jakarta EE 9.1 and MicroProfile 5. It is
fully passing MicroProfile 5 TCK and only has a few failures for Jakarta
TCK, hence the release candidate.
This is a jakarta namespace compatible
Vote closed but adding a +1 from me.

Couple of notes:
* woodstox-core appears to have gone _back_ some versions (6.2.4 -> 5.2.1)
* something is pulling in ASM as opposed to using the xbean-asm9-shaded
I don't think either of these should block the release, but we ought to
have a look as development moves forward.

Hi,
As discussed, here is the vote for Apache TomEE 9.0.0-M8. This milestone
differs from previous 9.x in the sense that we migrated all TomEE code to
the new jakarta namespace. Previously, we used bytecode relocation but most
of the integration was broken (tests, arquillian, etc).
We are still
