The main objective of introducing the basic authenticator was to make it
convenient to invoke the admin services *externally *without calling the
Authentication Admin before hand.

I had a discussion with AmilaJ. My recommendation would be, don't use this
mechanism in UI bundles, unless you don't mind storing the users' passwords
in the FE session.
