Currently for F17, the main menu and troubleshooting submenu on the live images is almost identical to those on install images - see the following screenshots:

I think it should be on the top level, as the media check should normally be done in advance to *prevent* trouble, not in response to it (which is when most people will be looking under the Troubleshooting menu). I think it would also make sense for install images to make the media check item the default. For lives, it's probably best to default to the non-media check item (since one often just runs the live without installing from it). There are also some unnecessary inconsistencies between the install and live menus.
