Pretty interesting!
Have you seen the recent work happening in puppy linux for the XO?
Puppy is largely derived from Ubuntu. (last time I checked)

Hi list,
While making mods to NM autoconnection feature I've come across a weird
behaviour from the favourites connections
(/home/olpc/.sugar/connections.cfg) reported to NetworkManager at startup.
What I've seen is that -only at startup- just one connection gets reported
to real_get_best_autocon

Hi Flavia,
yes, do not mix the XS with your desktop. The XS is preconfigured, and
will break your desktop machine.
Get a low-end machine, a second-hand machine and run the XS on that.
It autoconfigures so that you could run it on a machine with 256MB RAM
and 4GB harddrive.
cheers,

Disclaimer: I am not asking for help; I am just sharing my experience.
I noticed - perhaps because of the Sugar 0.90 'Remove_Presence_Service'
feature - THREE separate icons in F14 Neighborhood for one-and-the-same
XO-1 system (which runs os852). Admittedly, that system can be

The .fc14 is my mistake, this package is actually built for Fedora 11.

Hi,
Sorry for my late reply to this. Actually we use OLSR in Afghanistan
to do our school networking like so:
1. An OLSR router (running openwrt Freifunk ; see freifunk.net )
connects to the other routers in the school - that forms the backbone
on one network (e.g. channel 6)
2. A vanilla OpenW

Hi James,
I didn't get your e-mail yesterday! Thanks for resending! That was most
helpful.
To clarify...yes, I used olpc-update not fs-update. I'd like to chase the
root of this idiosyncrasy however I'm also in the midst of user testing for
Squeakland (Etoys) and my priority is getting Etoys 4.1

I've just tested that olpc-update does cause a firmware update ...
installed Q3A45, then installed build os303, on reboot fi
I need help understanding why I am getting very poor frame rates when I use
pycairo to move a large image around the screen on an olpc XO. When I use
pycairo to draw a rectangle of the same size on an XO, I get great
performance! This is confusing to me because in my experience on other
