Hi everyone,

The start of the signal processing workshop is now only 6 days away, and it
is looking promising to be a great event. Registration is now closed,
however anyone wishing to view all, or part of the multi-day event will be
able to do so online, as we will be streaming the talks live (a web link
will be provided in a few days from now - watch the
website<https://sites.google.com/site/hpdspworkshopcpt2012/home>for
more information) - feel free to pass on this information to anyone
interested. An updated programme has been uploaded
(here<https://sites.google.com/site/hpdspworkshopcpt2012/home/programme>),
and additional details such as directions to UCT are available
(here<https://sites.google.com/site/hpdspworkshopcpt2012/home/maps>).

When arriving at UCT, please look out for sign posts that will be put up on
campus to direct you to the venue. A registration desk will be setup in the
venue EM6 - please visit this point first when arriving. (a map of the
Menzies building will be
uploaded<https://sites.google.com/site/hpdspworkshopcpt2012/home/maps>shortly).

We also have a few additional events that are taking place. On Tuesday
evening, Professor Matthew Bailes of Swinburne University of Technology
(Australia) will be giving a talk titled "Discovery of a Diamond
Planet<http://www.swinburne.edu.au/chancellery/mediacentre/staff/news/2011/08/a-
planet-made-of-diamond>"
which is sure to be of great interest to all. If you would like to attend,
or know of anyone who is not attending the workshop but would like to
attend, please use this
link<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dEJGZ3RRQ2lSLWtxZlBpc3ZWZG13QXc6MQ#gid=0>to
sign up (Deadline: 25th January 2013).

There is also a planned visit to the Centre for High Performance Computing
(CHPC) on Wednesday afternoon (30th January). Please visit (this web
page<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dG45SC0yRWVMbGN0UjVCYVdkU0NqVmc6MQ>)
to sign up if you would like to be included (we need to know in advance for
transport and catering).

We are arranging dedicated parking at UCT for the workshop, so please apply
for parking
(here)<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dDJJRjhhX3dqSjdSV3B5RU9rNWFsaFE6MQ>(Deadline:
24th January 2013).

Lastly, some of you have indicated you are able to bring posters for
display. Please bring these along on the first day, and hand them in during
registration (you can take them back after the workshop).

Thank you again for expressing interest in the workshop, and we look
forward to seeing all of you next week!

Regards,
Andrew van der Byl
