Clicking on the Airmail icon (Messages?) gives me a list of existing
messages including some I have sent from another mobile. I have myself
setup as a contact with this other mobile number. Clicking on "Open"
does nothing if no message is highlighted. Clicking on the button under
"Open"

Just an hint, try fso 5.5 preview image, the update framework has
support for bt-handset!
