GPS-Logging and Gypsy

Hi, some questions about gypsy. Is FSO using gypsy code or only the gypsy api? And how would gypsy do for gps logging? How would the event based api handle this? I would imagine a continuos log would be more acurate? Is this the case? Maybe it's just the oposite and only saves data but not hurt
