Next release will ship back the Server edition, which is just
perfect also for those who wants a not-X baked Sabayon version. The
installer is still Calamares (just GUI ins
SDDM have already known issues in regard to that, use a different LM
(lightdm or lxdm would just work, as you already did). The video group
doesn't work for everybody.
The message in booting Plasma regards more about your video card driver,
can you give more informations? try to use "nouveau" driv

The same answer I got in the forum. But my login-user and the sddm user are
already part of the video group. Just for verification I installed lxdm and
lightdm also. Both are starting so it is definately no X problem. If I try to
start a plasma-session using any of the these two display managers
Sounds like your SDDM user may not be in the video group.
