I believe the rewind after dd in /sbin/e-smith/backup (which I've removed)
may be the cause of this. Install the rpms and perform a backup as is. If
this works, you have your answer. If

I still have the problem I posted to the Forum back in August (see
below) I've applied every patch or update for SME 5.5
But no luck. I'm hoping I'll learn something new as you discuss the
behaviour of these different options.
