I have had these problems too, but only under 4.1beta3. In 4.1beta4 it was only a 
problem that an ipchains rule didn't come up correctly what was solved by an update 
RPM see

Did you change the timezone and enabled the ntp service? I thought that was my problem 
at that time. Now you'll find the on the Date/Time e-smith-manager page:
"Warning: If you have configured a network time server below, do NOT
manually set the time or date here.  Doing so will break the network
time synchronization."
