Do it anyway you feel happy with.  There's no 'anonymity' issues involved
in the templates; as you say the issue is rather stability and, more
importantly, convenience.  Since java has gzip support, perhaps consider
distributing a 'content.zip' alongside 'frednode.exe'.  (Perhaps in later
releases, frednode.exe would extract content from itself at runtime, but
that sort of toy can wait until everything else is working).
