Dear Jim and Jeanne,

There is a Yahoo listserv for TESOL (Teachers of
English to Speakers of Other Languages) teachers
who work online as well as face to face.

I know that neither of you will be teaching online,
but there are often general pedagogy queries on the
list and some thoughtful answers. In the very least,
someone should be able to direct you to a resource.
Jeanne, especially for you as you will be teaching
ESL.

The list is very active, informal and collegial.
I think they would welcome your query.

Unrelated to your question, but more to netiquette,
I am new to this list and should introduce myself.
My name is Amy Krause and I help manage the North
American node of an informal international network
called Mountain Forum.

Mountain Forum is dedicated to information-sharing,
mutual support, and advocacy for mountain people,
environments, and sustainable development. As you
know, mountain places are isolated from one another
but increasingly connected via the wired world.

I have colleagues working in many other parts of the
world where the digital divide is greater than it is
here in North America - but it is mistake to assume
it is not a challenge here too!

I am looking forward to learning more from everyone
on the list. Thanks to Andy Carvin for managing it
and keeping us on the ball.

Jim and Jeanne, good luck!

Kind regards,

Amy.

Can anyone on our list suggest some listservs or
bulletin boards or blogs for new teachers? I'm not
looking for websites, but places more oriented
toward being interactive.

Thanks.
