Hi Bob,
Good questions. But I don't think that the new modes are all that
frequent. Maybe only one every three or four months or so:)
Many of the modes will not be used much unless they are available with
different software packages. If they are only available one product, it
will be difficult

Hello Paul,
I propose for all the Olivia and Olivia derived modes, as you need only one
mark to tune precisely the transmission and as Mixw and Multipsk dispose of
3 cursors (lower, middle and upper) to define the transmission in this way:
* Olivia: upper and lower limits,
* Contestia: only one
MultiPSK has the tones at the beginning of the transmission that
identify the upper and lower limits... maybe the software authors
could agree upon and put into the packages something that could
identify the mode? Low-Mid-High for Olivia, High-Mid-Low for RTTYM,
and Mid-Low-High for Contestia? Tha

I can attest to the fact that the IOGEAR GUC232A USB to Serial Adapter that

Hi Jason,
I am not all that impressed by Rigblaster interafaces (not always
totally isolated), it might be better to buy interfacing equipment that
directly connects to USB. Newer desktops no longer have COM ports
anymore either. I have a high end HP laptop but have to use a USB to COM
port to

What hams NEVER do is have a specification or goal.
What is the goal of the new modes? Robustness or speed or both?
If robustness, I suppose you need to get on the air and see which one is the more robust and then see how fast it is. Then ma
BUT, fifty new modes with very small followings are not as effective
as one mode that only does half the things but is universally used.
It is a critical mass of users that makes something a success.

I have comments for both Alan & Jason Hsu.
I agree with Alan's comments about overpriced used equipment (i.e.
laptops). A used laptop runs about 600 $CDN in the Toronto area and
that's a slower PIII with win98. NEW name brand laptops are available
for $799 (CDN dollars) and even less if you wait f

There seems many new digimodes and new ones comes almost every week.
What is good log program which knows new modes or modes can add
easily. QSL card/label printing also needed. Also adif import/export and
statistics. Is this right forum to ask this?

The trouble with anything electronic is that used items (and also
refurbished or surplus new items) tend to be priced in relation to their
original list price even when newer superior devices are available for
much less.
