Is there a way to change the HF templates (for example, with tough
condx, I'd like to change one of the messages to the shorthand
equivalent, to make sure it gets through). I didn't see where these
are captured in the .ini file.

141 ALE is completely "OS neutral".
It is a US federal standard.
Over the past 5 years, it has become the defacto "universal" global
standard for HF connectivity for voice and/or data
It is a windows program that may work in Linux with wine.
I don't know yet if it would work under other emulators
(Crossover Office, etc).
