Yes, you guest it, right during the RTTY test I lost audio in, thought I
had a bad cable or lose connection, but no, the dam sound card
(Soundblaster 16bit) just stopped working. So in the mean time I
decided to drop back and use the on board sound card. I then check the

Jerry,
Although your pic didn't reflect what you may have seen and heard was a
new mode called RTTYM or MRTTY, I believe. A new **.dll is circulating
that works in MixW. I responded to one using Olivia and the other
station switched. Another new digital mode on the horizon

Problem with 30 meters is the rapid band change that occurs in the
evenings, 40 is somewhat better for Stateside coverage then goes long
and then later 80 meters is FB but eventually goes long! From 7-9PM EST
40 is the best, before that time 30 meters and after that time 80 meters.

Mark,
Thanks for your info. on the tones/bandwidth, most of the user are
using the lower bandwidth on 30 and lower since we have limited space
and its share more with SSB, RTTY and the other digital modes.. The 16
tones 500Hz width gives us about a 20 WPM while the 8 - 500 provides us

Andy,
Looks like a 500Hz width signal, looks like your set for a 1000Hz width,
OR it could be a CHIP64 signal, width looks about right. Looks more
like chip64 than a Olivia signal to me, wish I could here it!
20 meters and higher most use a 1000Hz wide Olivia, some call it
standard mode with
Dave,
Another thought, depending on what center frequency for the audio
decoding may well determine what USB transmit frequency we recommend.
For those using OLIVIA on 40 meters the center of the signal is 750Hz,
on 20 meters the center is 1000Hz since on 20 meters its a 1000Hz wide
signal. C

Good idea Dave, that leaves 7.090 for the Olivia, MT63 users.
Or we can always start there via a CQ and then QSY?
PS - There is a new group on Yahoo, CHIP64

Yes, thats what I am doing, logging it as a RTTY QSO with the CHIP in
the comment field, electronic QSL services such as E-QSL transfers the
comment section to the QSL card and therefor the other station can
confirm the QSO if he is also using the RTTY field. We do have the same

Great news Leigh, I wasn't sure of the actual requirements and thanks
for that update, heard WD4KPD calling CQ on 7090 and could not help it
and called him back, we tried all of the modes both clocked and
unclocked and running just 10 watts between FL and NC we had a very nice
QSO. Looks like

Danny,
Thanks for the comments, I have no intention of giving up on LOTW or for
that matter E-QSL. They both provide a service to hams world wide.
I agree that it is funny that the actual ROR is lower than I initially

Tom,
You're correct, 30 meters is a great band both for cw and digital. I
have had many FB QSO's up around 10.138 on PSK, MFSK, MT63 and RTTY.
Nice thing I like about the band is it is a low noise band here in the
South during the heavy QRM band. Do not have the SSB stations like we
